• Visiting Fulbright Scholar to present "Diversity in Chinese Culture"

    The University of West Alabama continues its 2012 Fulbright Lecture Series as Dr. Jiping Yang will present "Diversity in Chinese Culture" on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. in Brock Y-Hall.

    Yang, a Fulbright Research Fellow, is an associate professor of English and American Literature at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. She previously served as a lecturer at Liaoning Normal University from 1999-2003. Her research interests include twentieth century American literature, Southern American women writers, and Flannery O’Connor.

    Hosted by the College of Liberal Arts, Yang’s studies began in English linguistics and literature at Northeast Normal University in Changchun, China, where she received a bachelor’s degree in 1994. She holds a master’s degree in English and American literature from Liaoning Normal University in Dalian, China. Yang received a doctorate in English and American literature from Beijing Foreign Studies University in 2006.

    Yang has published several articles and commentaries on Georgia-born Flannery O’Connor and the author’s perspectives and approaches, including “O’Connor in the Perspectives of Theology and Feminism” and “Flannery O’Connor Study in China.”
