• DRA co-chairman Masingill to visit west Alabama

    LIVINGSTON, Ala.—Citizens of west Alabama will have the opportunity to meet Delta Regional Authority (DRA) federal co-chairman Christopher Masingill when he visits Demopolis and Livingston on Tuesday, April 21.

    Masingill will tour several attractions and industrial sites in Demopolis before a 2 p.m. presentation at the Demopolis Higher Education Center (DHEC), which is funded in part by the DRA. The presentation will include an overview of the Center’s activities and plans for continued service to the region. Masingill will speak to citizens about the DRA and its efforts to promote growth in the area.Masingill will meet with University of West Alabama administrators and Livingston city officials Tuesday evening before returning to Demopolis.

    DRA is an independent Federal/State partnership designed to stimulate economic development in the Mississippi River Delta Region, increase the area’s self-sufficiency, and help improve the lives of its nearly 9.5 million residents of the 252 counties and parishes in the parts of the eight states that make up this economically distressed region. These states are Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee.
