University Charter School, approved in July by the Alabama Public Charter Schools Commission, is accepting interest surveys to gauge interest in enrollment and help determine the opening grade structure for the school’s opening in August 2018. Collected now through Sept. 1, the survey is available in several public locations throughout Sumter County and is also available online.

The interest survey is a brief questionnaire that parents or guardians should submit if they are interested in enrolling students at University Charter School. A separate survey should be completed for each student. Families who completed a similar form during the school’s application process in recent months need to complete the new survey as well.

In addition to helping determine the opening grade structure of the school, information collected in the survey will be used to prepare for the specific educational needs of the families the school will serve.

Submitting the interest survey does not obligate a parent or guardian to enroll a student in University Charter School, nor does it guarantee enrollment. Enrollment will be open first to Sumter County residents, followed by a subsequent enrollment period for non-Sumter County residents of Alabama. If enrollment exceeds the school’s capacity, a lottery will be held.
