• UWA to host fourth annual Homegrown Small Business Conference

     The University of West Alabama’s Small Business Development Center and the Alabama Black Belt Commission Small Business Committee will host its fourth annual Homegrown Small Business Conference on Friday, Sept. 30 from 8:45 a.m.–1:30 p.m. at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

    The event will focus on energizing small businesses and rural communities and will feature strong, hands-on learning opportunities for potential and existing business owners.

    The conference’s agenda includes an opening general session and three breakout tracks of development workshops throughout the course of the day. One of the tracks will have a special emphasis on Alabama Cottage Food Laws.

    The purpose of the vent is to encourage small business development in rural west Alabama to life local economies and create jobs.
