The University of West Alabama’s College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics invites elementary and high school students in and around Sumter County to the next in its series of Science Saturdays on Sept. 17 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Bibb Graves Hall room 102 on the UWA campus.

Dr. JJ Wedgworth, UWA director of research compliance, will present a workshop entitled “Water: You are What You Drink.” Students will learn about the importance of water in our lives and learn of ways to conserve water. Students will preform simple and fun experiments that will show how “cool” water is.

Science Saturdays are designed to give young students early exposure to the world of science and mathematics. The sessions create excitement and enthusiasm that students need not only to learn the basics of science but also gain the tools to further their studies in the field.

The workshop is free and open to all children grades first through twelfth. Spaces are limited. For more information or to reserve a place, please contact NSM Administrative Assistant Rosie Campbell at rmc@uwa.edu or 205-352-3414.
