• UWA Student Government Association officers elected

    LIVINGSTON, Ala.—University of West Alabama students recently selected several of their peers to serve as Student Government Association leaders for the 2011-12 school year.  

    Colby Cork of Hayden was elected president after serving two terms as vice president and one term as a senator. The senior biology major is the son of Tammie and Bryan Cork.  

    Cork says he looks forward to working with the newly elected SGA executive council to meet the needs of the student body. 

    “I hope to continue to strengthen UWA’s involvement Higher Education Day and maintain our winning record against the University of North Alabama in the annual canned food drive competition that benefits our communities,” Cork said.     

    Christen Nelms of Oneonta will serve as vice president upon completion of her term as junior class senator. The junior chemistry major is the daughter of Sharon and Randy Nelms.  

    Nicholas Finch of Toddtown was elected business manager. The senior majoring in sociology and journalism is the son of Nellie and Hubert Finch. Finch previously served as an SGA senator.  

    Keonna Echols of Tuscaloosa will serve a second term as secretary. A junior nursing major, she is the daughter of Denettria and James Echols. She previously served as senator for both the freshman and sophomore classes.
