University of West Alabama students recently selected several of their peers to serve as Student Government Association leaders for the 2012-13 school year.

Hannah Riley of Quitman, Miss., was elected president after serving as previous years as senator for both the freshman and sophomore classes and for the College of Liberal Arts. The English major is the daughter of Tommie Ann and Michael Riley.

“I am very proud to serve as SGA President and am looking forward to encouraging student involvement at events like Homecoming and Higher Ed Day,” Riley said.

“My goal as SGA President is to promote student involvement and awareness of SGA. The organization is a major factor in student life, however, it seems that only the very heavily involved students know of its existence. With the help of the executive council, senators and representatives, I intend to revamp student involvement across campus,” she explained.

Nicholas Finch of Toddtown will serve as vice president. He has also served as business manager and as senator for the College of Liberal Arts. The senior sociology and integrated marketing communications double major is the son of Nellie and Hubert Finch.

Keonna Echols of Tuscaloosa was elected business manager. The senior majoring in nursing is the daughter of Denettria and James Echols. Echols previously served as senator of the freshman and sophomore classes and as SGA secretary.

Hayley Taylor of Livingston will serve as secretary. She previously served as senator for both the freshman and sophomore classes. A junior integrated marketing communications major, she is the daughter of Nancy and David Taylor.
