UWA invites elementary students to Science Saturday Previous 1 of 1 Next Date: Friday, February 17, 2012 Time:9:30am Location: Bibb Graves Hall Cost: Sponsor: College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Contact: Rosie Campbell | 205-652-3414 View Event Website The University of West Alabama’s College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics invites elementary and middle school students in and around Sumter County to the next in its series of Science Saturdays on March 17 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Bibb Graves Hall on the UWA campus.Led by Dr. Maydison Ginting, professor of mathematics at UWA, the workshop “Patterns and Fun” features several sessions of learning how to recognize, generalize and use different patterns that exist in numbers and in shapes. It is a fun activity that makes students realize that mathematics is fun to study.Science Saturdays are designed to give young students early exposure to the world of science and mathematics. The sessions create excitement and enthusiasm that students need not only to learn the basics of science and math, but also gain the tools to further their studies in the field.The workshop is free and open to all children in third through eighth grades.
