• UWA ONLINE CLASSES

Online students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply for financial assistance to attend the University of West Alabama (Federal School Code 001024). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.gov. Students and parents of dependent students can e-sign the FAFSA using their U.S. Department of Education PIN number. A PIN number may be obtained online at www.pin.ed.gov. Students must be accepted for admission to the University before their financial aid can be awarded.

Online students are allowed to charge their tuition and fees against their financial aid award. However, students should be prepared to purchase books with their personal funds. Financial aid funds are disbursed on the third day of classes each term. Students can sign up for direct deposit of any remaining funds online at www.uwa.edu and click WebAdvisor. Processing of direct deposit requests take at least two weeks. Students who do not sign up for direct deposit will receive a refund check which is mailed to the student's LOCAL MAILING ADDRESS. The Student Accounts Supervisor e-mails each student to notify them each time a disbursement is made. Students who need to change their Local Mailing Address should contact the Registrar's Office, registrar@uwa.edu. Online students are subject to the same deferment fees and late payment fees as all other students.

There are five 8-week sessions in the academic year. Students are awarded financial assistance for the entire academic year (fall through summer) or balance of the year. Students must reapply for financial aid annually. They should apply as soon after January 1 as possible for the upcoming fall quarter.
