The University of West Alabama’s Campus School donated books to Miss Alabama Outstanding Teen Morgan Green whose platform is literacy. While visiting the University, Green read to each classroom at the Campus School.

“With Morgan’s platform being literacy, I thought that the UWA Campus School Book Fair would be a great opportunity for us to help Morgan get books to other children in Alabama,” UWA Campus School Director Annie Upchurch said.

The monetary donations provided by the Campus School children, staff, family and friends purchased $75 in books from the Book Fair Fiesta.

“I was so excited when Mrs. Annie told me UWA’s Campus School was going to donate books towards my platform. Her call was so special because she taught me when I was a little girl,” Green said.

Upchurch taught Green when she was in the 3rd grade at Englewood Elementary in Tuscaloosa, and Upchurch explains that she knew then the student had a bright future ahead.

“She was so talented and had the mannerisms and personality of someone that I knew could do great things one day,” Upchurch said.

Green will compete in Miss America’s Outstanding Team pageant from July 29 through Aug. 2 in Orlando, Fla.
