I have been accepted to UWA! . . . Now What? Congratulations on your acceptance to the University of West Alabama! Often, it seems as if the admissions process might be the most difficult step. However, there are a few other things you need to do on your path to becoming a Tiger. We have outlined a few simple steps to help you along. Visit Campus: You've applied....you've been accepted......still not sure if UWA is the best fit for you? Come visit! We are sure you will agree with our current students that UWA has the right atmosphere to help you succeed. During a tour of UWA, you will be able to speak with an Admissions Counselor, speak with a student ambassador, see a residence hall, and receive a UWA t-shirt.Apply for Housing: Starting in the Fall of 2012, all freshmen are required to live on campus. Gilbert Hall is a suite-style residence hall specifically designed for freshmen. Each room houses two students and is accompanied with a private bathroom in the room. Gilbert Hall is also equipped with restaurant/café and laundry facilities on the first floor. Our housing is first come, first serve; do not wait until the last minute to save your spot. Complete your Financial Aid:Even with UWA’s great affordability, our Financial Aid Office is glad to help students in financing their college career. Our financial aid office will assist you in applying for the many scholarships, grants, federal aid, and loans that we offer. Sign up for Orientation: This is one of the most important two days on your journey to becoming a Tiger! At Tiger Trails orientation, you will have the chance to meet different departments and student organizations on campus. If you have not already, this will also be the day that you will get the chance to introduce our campus to your family. You will meet your advisor and register for classes for the fall semester. Registration for Fall Orientation will begin in April; a brochure will be mailed out but you may also register online.Complete your admissions file:After you have been accepted and finished everything else, make sure that the Admissions Office has everything we need to complete your file. Also request a copy of your final high school transcript showing your graduation date to be mailed to the Admissions Office. The Admissions Office will be more than willing to assist you with any questions you have. Please feel free to contact us should you need any help.
